Before You Say, “I Do”

KEY POINT:

Marriage is a holy covenant between a man and a woman before a Holy God!

In order for a marriage to be a “Christian” marriage, it has to have Christ at the Center.

OPEN:

Take a moment and share the expectations you have about getting married.

What do you feel are the most important ingredients before you decide to get married.

CONNECT:

  1. Read Genesis 2:18-24.  What do we learn about human relationships in this passage?
  2. What does the Bible mean about being “unequally yoked”?  Read 2 Corinthians 6:14.
  3. What are the ways you can be unequally yoked and how does it impact your relationship?
  4. Do you think it is still important to have sexual purity before marriage?  What is God’s purpose for sex in marriage?  Read Prov. 5:15-18, Malachi 2:15, Heb. 13:4
  5. Why is it important to share Life Priorities?  What are yours?  Share in the order of your preference: Marriage, Children, Career, God.
  6. What traditions or values do you consider important to bring into your marriage?  Why?  How do you work out differences in your preferences?

TAKE IT HOME:

  1. Take time to pray for each other’s relationships.  For the couples as well as singles intending to be in a relationship.
  2. Determine how your group can help each other share Christ with the spouse who has not yet joined your group.
